CAMPAIGN NOTES
Autumn/Winter Edition 1, the debut of Kikyu, begins with a reflective gaze into personal wardrobes. Kikyu’s founder spent years living between Korea and Japan, while the creative director came from a background in graphic design. Through conversations, they shared memories tied to the enduring pieces in their closets.
As part of a generation in which gender distinctions are becoming less defined, we found common ground in a meticulous approach to designing understated, refined forms—a vision that became the bedrock of Edition 1.
Kikyu’s first four pieces share the same structural pattern, yet differ entirely in their choice of fabric. They demonstrate how one shared shape can yield entirely different moods and expressions simply through a change in material.
The Oversized Drape Wide Sleeve Top is crafted in two fabrics: a check cotton flannel with a subtle interplay of Black and Gray tones, and an Off White acetate satin featuring a vintage-washed finish. The elegant cowl draping wraps softly around the body, while the wide neckline and sleeves highlight the distinct qualities of each fabric. Together, these elements create an exceptionally soft and comfortable feel.
The Paneled Flare Maxi Skirt is crafted in two fabrics: the same check cotton flannel used for the Oversized Drape Wide Sleeve Top—allowing the two pieces to be worn as a set—and a solid wool-nylon blend. Structured pleats in varying lengths add a playful touch to the elegant maxi silhouette. The rear adjustable belt ensures a tailored fit while allowing the skirt to sit higher at the waist or lower on the hips, subtly changing how long the skirt appears when worn.
The check cotton flannel top and skirt form a cohesive set when worn together. The skirt's side panels seamlessly continue the line of the top and create the illusion of an oversized coat. Meanwhile, the durable wool-nylon blend gives the deep brown version a more defined and structured silhouette.
